Individuals seeking to become licensed as a Title Insurance Agent in Alabama must successfully pass the state licensing examination administered under the authority of the Alabama Department of Insurance.

Alabama Administrative Code Rule 482-1-148-.06 provides that individuals must pass the examination prior to licensure as a title insurance agent.

While Alabama previously required completion of a 20-hour pre-licensing course, that requirement was repealed effective January 1, 2024. The state now requires passage of the licensing examination but does not require completion of a pre-licensing course prior to taking the exam.
